During your initial consultation, your Philadelphia dental sleep specialist will obtain important background information, including your medical history, in order to find out more about your sleep apnea and snoring. The consultation includes a thorough dental examination which may include taking X-rays or reviewing existing X-rays to determine if you are a candidate for oral appliance therapy, like a sleep apnea mouthpiece.

If it is determined that you are a good candidate for dental sleep apnea treatment options, dental impressions of your upper and lower teeth will be taken along with a bite registration. This will be used to fabricate your custom snoring mouth guard.

Dr. Marc Levin, Philadelphia’s dental sleep apnea expert, is specially trained in oral appliance therapy (OAT) and experienced with prescribing various types of oral appliances. He will be able to determine which appliance is best suited for your specific needs.

For a new patient, the initial evaluation and implementation of a CPAP dental appliance can take several weeks to complete. Our process includes the examination, selection of the most appropriate oral appliance for snoring and fitting to maximize the adoption and function of the appliance.

Ongoing care, including short and long-term follow-ups, are essential in the treatment of sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy. They serve to assess the treatment of your disorder and the condition and effectiveness of your appliance.
